The residence of a king or other dignitary. The frequent biblical references are to such royal residences (2Chr 2:1; 2Chr 2:2), to their staffs (1Kgs 4:6; 2Kgs 20:18; 2Kgs 24:12), their facilities (Esth 1:5; Esth 5:1; Dan 4:29; Dan 5:5), or their security forces (Luke 11:21).
