Ephraim possessed the town, but the territory of Tappuah was occupied by Manasseh (Josh 17:8). Menahem sacked Tappuah (2Kgs 15:16). A king of Tappuah was beaten by Joshua (Josh 12:17); probably one of the sites above is indicated.
